Living by the motto “Keep Austin Weird,”
the Texas state capital city presents an alternative side to traditional
Texan culture. This offbeat attitude is partly due to the city’s
large college student population, chiefly from the University of Texas.
Austin’s reputation as “The Live Music Capital of the World”
is made by the abundance of concert venues and events held in the
city. In March, Austin plays host to the South by Southwest music
and film festival, and in September the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
As the sun sets over the desert sky, Congress Avenue Bridge becomes
a hotspot as Austin’s famous bat population launches into the
sky for their own nighttime pursuits.
